PKPP Lewiatan was pleased to hear the statement made by the EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding in Sopot at a meeting of the EU member states ministers of justice in which she said that she would present the European Commission with the so called contract law in autumn.
Optional character of the tool can, in practice, contribute to abolishing currently existing barriers such as multitude of languages or multitude of legal systems of member states and thereby making turnover on the internal market considerably easier. PKPP Lewiatan is also in favour of limiting the scope of the tool, i.e. to only include sales contracts (together with services connected with a given contract) with potential possibility of expanding the scope in future. This will provide safe turnover and legal certainty. A reliable analysis and assessment of the new law will not be possible until the draft's content is published.
