The PKPP Lewiatan is the only Polish business organisation representing interests of Polish entrepreneurs in the European Union. Based on views of the Confederation members our Brussels office and experts prepare opinions on draft legal acts to be passed in Brussels.
Thanks to contacts in the European Parliament and the European Commission, as well as the cooperation with the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union, Lewiatan members have access to current information on the European legislation and are in a position to influence it. The Brussels office assists in arranging meetings and establishing contacts between member companies and associations and decision-makers in Brussels. Furthermore, Lewiatan is an active member of the BUSINESSEUROPE – the biggest European confederation of entrepreneurs, through which it also influences the European legislation. Lewiatan representatives take part in the work of an important EU body – European Economic and Social Committee. |

One of the most significant objectives of Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan is to represent Polish entrepreneurs at the international level, in particular towards the European Union.
Polish accession to the European Union is a great opportunity but also a threat to entrepreneurs, who will have to strengthen their domestic market positions before the protective customs barriers are removed and to adjust them to the requirements of the European Union markets. Thus we strive to create equal competitive conditions for Polish companies in the European marketplace. PKPP Lewiatan opened an office in Brussels in order to be able to effectively promote their interests abroad. Working with our foreign partners, in particular with the organizations of employers from Ireland, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain, we acquaint our members with the EU legislation and its practical implications.
Polish Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan considerably contributes to activities of the most important economic organizations and institutions that form the conditions for business ventures in the EU. PKPP Lewiatan is a member of BUSINESSEUROPE, BIAC (Business and Industry Advisory Committee) and actively participates in actions of ILO (International Labor Organization)
As an active member of BUSINESSEUROPE (Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe), we co-create the policy of the European entrepreneurs and take part in a social dialogue at the European level. Through the membership in the Consulting Committee, we cooperate with EESC (European Economic and Social Committee), which is the main advisory body of the European Commission regarding the economic and social issues.
PKPP Lewiatan is a member of BIAC - Business and Industry Advisory Committee - from 13 June 2003. As a member of BIAC - Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD, we are able to influence the analyzes and references regarding both, economic and social policies. We represent Polish entrepreneurs in the most important international tripartite organization - International Labor Organization (ILO).This membership is a very important part of our international activities, as well as an important factor that influences PKPP Lewiatan domestic actions. To create more effective cooperation with this organization, the Polish Committee BIAC at PKPP Lewiatan was established.
EESC - European Economic and Social Committee, was set up by the 1957 Rome Treaties in order to involve economic and social interest groups in the establishment of the common market and to provide institutional machinery for briefing the European Commission and the Council of Ministers on European Union issues.
EESC is a non-political body that gives representatives of Europe's socio-occupational interest groups, and others, a formal platform to express their points of views on EU issues. Its opinions are forwarded to the larger institutions - the Council, the Commission and the European Parliament. Over the last few years the EESC has stepped up its role in the European Union and has transcended the straightforward duties flowing from the Treaties. The EESC acts as a forum for the single market and has hosted, with the support of other EU bodies, a series of events aimed at bringing the EU closer to the people. |
